First of all, if you came here from James Sinclair’s wonderful substack ‘Artisanal Sudoku’, welcome! And big thanks to James for the shoutout on Monday. For those who are somehow unaware of James, definitely go check out his weekly sudokus on his substack.
Fun fact - A triangle has 3 sides and the number 3 happens to be the 3rd triangle number (assuming you’re counting 0 as the first, which I am since it’s convenient at the moment).
So, today I have a trio of semi-mathy puzzles for you - a Kakuro (with vaguely triangular shapes), a Region Sum Sudoku, and a number riddle of sorts.
Killer sudoku fans will likely enjoy Kakuro, because it’s basically just a bunch of overlapping killer cages. But let’s start with an interesting riddle:
I’m thinking of a number…
I’m thinking of a 10-digit number in which the first digit is how many zeros are in the number, the second digit is how many ones are in the number, and so on until the final (tenth) digit is how many nines are in the number.
What number am I thinking of?
